Hawaii’s ultimate Pink Floyd experience

Events

We're beyond delighted to say that our show tonight at the Blue Note Hawaii has completely sold out! Thank you so much for your support. We'll be working on booking more venues in the coming months, and if you'd like to see us at the Blue Note again in the future, let them know!
A final reminder about our upcoming show at Blue Note Hawaii on November 11: we're absolutely thrilled to have Ginai, the "jazz muse of Hawaii" and multiple Na Hoku Hanohano award winner join us as a guest vocalist! This will be a full-spectrum Floyd experience.

Dark Side of the Beach brings together some of Hawaii's most well-versed and talented musicians with decades of combined performance experience, playing Pink Floyd's classic songs from the albums "Dark Side of the Moon", "The Wall", and "Wish You Were Here", all accompanied by choreographed stage lighting, sound effects, and cinematic visuals in 4K.

The band's members are Rob Bruggermann (lead guitar/vox, Echoes of Floyd), Brant Swigart (bass/vox, Rubber Soul), Michael Shapiro (guitar/slide/vox, Hardly Strictly Jerry), Alan Okuye (keys/vox, Stephen Inglis/Ginai), Ted Gauthier (sax/vox), Larry Lieberman (drums, Hardly Strictly Jerry), Abbie Willow (backing vox, Aftershock) and Kevin Hughes (lights/visuals/sfx).

How we wish you were there! Tickets are available at:

Thank you so much to everyone who saw us at the Boardroom on October 20th. It was our third show there, and we're very grateful that despite playing on occasionally rainy Monday nights we've packed the house each time with an awesome crowd. We'll be continuing to polish and improve our show in the months ahead and hope to see you again! Video by Serena Kwock.
We're proud to announce that we'll be performing at Blue Note Hawaii on November 11! Doors are at 5pm, and the show starts at 6:30pm. For ticket information please go to:

Although there will be two small displays with visuals to accompany the music, at Blue Note the emphasis will be on the sound quality, which we promise will be excellent.

Meet The Band

Dark Side of the Beach brings together some of Hawaii’s most well-versed and talented musicians, with decades of combined performance experience and a shared love for the music of Pink Floyd.

Lead Guitar and Vocals

Rob Bruggemann

Rob has been diligently studying and replicating the unique sound and guitar style of David Gilmour for many years and previously was a founding member of the local Floyd tribute Echoes of Floyd, performing at the Hard Rock Café and many other Oahu venues.

Bass and Vocals

Brant Swigart

Brant is a prolific and popular singer/songwriter who performs regularly as a soloist or as part of a duo (with Michael Shapiro) at bars, clubs, and restaurants throughout Kailua and Honolulu. He is a former member of the Beatles tribute Rubber Soul and his original music can be found at brantswigartmusic.com.

Guitar and Vocals

Michael Shapiro

Michael plays rhythm, lead, and slide guitar and belts out lead and backup vocals. As a former member of the band Paradise Waits (with Stephen Inglis) and other Grateful Dead tributes including Hardly Strictly Jerry, Shapiro is at ease with acoustic and electric performance. In addition to his jam band roots, Michael’s been playing Pink Floyd songs for years.

Keyboard and Vocals

Alan Okuye

Alan is one of the most accomplished and versatile keyboardists in Hawaii. A performer, composer, arranger and private piano teacher, Alan’s credits include work with international recording artists like Rickie Lee Jones, Bobby Womack, and Colin Hay of Men at Work, along with some of Hawaii’s most popular entertainers like Ginai, Stephen Inglis and many others.

Saxophone and Vocals

Ted Gauthier

Ted is a shredding sax player and singer with more than 25 years of professional performance experience who started singing gospel songs in church at age four and earned a college music scholarship for big band jazz. A multi-instrumentalist, Ted is also adept at piano, guitar, bass, and percussion.

Drums

Larry Lieberman

Larry has been a bashing rock drummer in Hawaii for decades, playing original alt-rock with Peter Bond of Hat Makes the Man and Oriental Love Ring; Beatles tribute Rubber Soul; Grateful Dead/Phish covers with Hardly Strictly Jerry; and a slew of other recording and performance credits including legendary Hawaiian group HAPA, the KPOI Electric Lunch Band and many others.

Visuals and Lights

Kevin Hughes

Kevin runs the band’s video wall and lights in real time, creating intricate visual textures to complement the music and enhance the audience experience. Each performance is unique to every show, and he’s designed custom light shows and visuals for the bands The Other Ones and Hardly Strictly Jerry.

Backing Vocals

Abbie Willow

Abbie’s a powerhouse vocalist who used to front local alt-rock bands Planet Jane and Aftershock. From belting-it-out to harmonizing delicately, Abbie adds just the right texture at just the right moments.
